In the state of Missouri, is my car covered when my son drives it, if he is on his dad's car insurance and my |
insurance is canceled? Legally, does the car have to be covered, the driver, or both? Insurance follows vehicles, not people, in all states. Not sure what you're asking. If you have no insurance on your vehicle and your son drives it, his father's insurance won't extend to your vehicle. He can always report the accident to them if he has one, and they will have to examine your policy language to determine if the vehicle qualilfies for coverage with them. I am not going to get into the intricacies of an insurance policy, but I'll say it's a possibility, but nothing you should bank on. Bottom line is you can't "jump" on his father's policy for coverage just by the mere fact that the son drives the vehicle. If it's furnished in any way for his regular use, it will most certainly not be covered. Get insurance!!!
