How can an American living overseas get travel/medical insurance (at low cost) when visiting the States? Very easy, there are several insurance companies that will provide medical insurance for vacations/travel -usually up to 6 weeks at a time (you can pay extra for extra days). The yearly fee for such insurances is very low - around $20!!! -or less! (actually $9 was the cheapest I ever saw) However, it is important what your status is in the particular country where you insure yourself (citizen/resident or not ) You can browse the internet, or ask at a local travel agency of the country you reside in. Some credit cards in Europe already come with this service without paying extra. See the source. It's pretty easy, if you have a credit card. However, I don't know what you mean by cheap...The cheapest I've seen is around 150 for one month. http://insuremytrip.com/ I don't know what you mean by low cost, but I know of only 1 company that will cover you for medical insurance when you go to your country of citizenship. The provider is SRI. You can get the details & prices here: http://travelhealthinsurance.net/liaison... http://travelhealthinsurance.net/liaison... |
