Auto Insurance out of state college student?

I live in Michigan and will be moving down to Miami to go to University of Miami, I will probably have my own place and I'd like to get a Florida plate. However my parents pay for my auto insurance, is it still possible to have my parents cover my car even though I live out of state??

It doesn't matter who pays the premium on the auto policy, as long as someone pays it. Your parents CAN still add the vehicle - regardless of what state it is registered in, on their policy.
yes, speak with your insurance agent
If they are willing to pay for it - sure. Get your car insured in Miami and have your parents pay the bill. Insurance company doesn't care where the payment comes from or whose name is on the check. As long as the bill is paid, they are happy.
You or your parents can send a check directly to MY insurance and it will be fine. :-)
Yes, talk to your insurance agent. However, it will probably cost your parents 2-3x more, since accidents are more likely to occur in Miami than where you live in Michigan. Your parents would be better off if you keep your Michigan plates.
That would be something to ask your insurance agent about. You're a student, so technically I think you can still be on their policy. To get a license plate I think you have to reside in that state for at least 6 months on a full time basis. If you're a non-Florida resident attending college in Florida, you don't need a Florida plate. Besides- cops might be more likely to let you off the hook if you get pulled over because you can say "I'm sorry I'm not from the area!" LOL
