I MAILED in my taxes, and then asked the IRS to DIRECT DEPOSIT my refund to my bank account. ???? |
How long will it take for my refund to show up in my account? I assume that asking for a direct deposit will be faster, right? Normally, yes. Usually about 2 to 4 weeks for a mail-in with direct deposit. All the 'rule of thumb' answers to refund timing are 'out the window' this year. Thousands of refunds have been delayed. Part of the problem relates to last minute changes to the tax laws. The IRS didn't recover well. You should have your refund within 3 weeks of the date they receive your mailed return, even with the efile program the IRS still receives 1000's of paper returns each day, they can only process one return at a time.
