Widow receiving拢276 pension from husband and working 25hrs weekly seeking tax advice.? |
I am getting Husbands pension plus 拢550 net from job, paying 拢96 a month tax.i have been told if I work less hours I would be paying less tax.Can anyone clarify? Am I woking to pay the tax man?Could I be working less hours and breaking even? Yes, if you work fewer hours, you would earn less and so pay less tax, its logical. You may be paying 22% tax on your earnings - I can't tell without knowing what your gross is and your age and so on - this means that the rest of your earnings are not taxed, so you of course have more money than if you didnt work. Basically you need to look at your total income and work out your tax liability - this would be the same if all your incoem was from a pension, or all from work, or a bit of both. As previous answerer has said, go and see your local tax office who will explain to you - they don't bite. Source(s): Ex HMIT Check it out in your local tax office, or online at their website. |
