Appealing property taxes with an attorney. Is this legit or a scam?

I got this flier in the mail, that goes on and on about Such-and-Such law firm, a property tax reduction firm, will cut your property taxes with no upfront cost, no flat fee, yadda yadda. I've never heard of this before until I moved to Texas. Is this legit or a scam?

Anyone used a service like this before? Is it worth it?

That type of business is legit. Usually you pay them a % of the savings over a certain period of time. Say they save you $1,000 a year for the next 3 years. They charge you 30% or a total of $900 ($3000 * 30%). It can be worth it if the savings are there. They will try to get your assessed value reduced, which is based on comparible properties in your area. Good luck.

The site looks legitimate to me. Check the Better Business Bureau. And READ THE FINE PRINT in anything that you sign.
The site might look legitimate, but anything that sounds too good to be true certainly must be.

Unless there is some secret value added tax exception an exemption, I would imagine you are stuck with the bill they give you.
