Why does one need to grant Power of attorney concerning taxes? you need to grant a limited power of attorney to your accountant,tax preparer,book keeper,cpa etc... if they are to represent you in communications with the IRS,otherwise the IRS will not talk to them,mostly for privacy act restrictions,the IRS doesn't want to get sued for telling someone your business,without your OK If somebody is going to sign your tax return in your absence, they need your power of attorney, a copy of which should be filed with the tax return. If you have a tax controversy with the taxing authorities, you need to give a power of attorney to your lawyer or certified public accountant so that they can deal with the taxing authorities on your behalf. |
