How do I use a calculator to know the tax total for a sale?

I am selling things on the net. I want to know how do you enter the % to the total of a sale? Per say I sold something for $3,000.00 and the tax rate is 7.750% how do I enter it to get the total with taxes? Thanks

$3,000.00 and the tax rate is 7.750%

enter:
3000 X 1.0775 =

$3232.50

;)
Multiply the amount of the purchase by 1.0775
YOU FIRST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOUR LOCAL TAX RATE IS TAKE THE PRICE X THE % OF SALES TAX SO IF YOUR BUYING A 10.00 ITEM AND YOUR TAX IS 8.25% YOU TAKE 10.00X8.25%= THAT EASY
$3000 x .0775......then take that # and add it to 3000. The tax is $2325 so your total is 5325.... and I did that w/o a calculator....check your decimel points.....and take a 3rd grade math refresher class
My first question would be is the sale subject to sales tax? Is the buyer in the same state as you? If not do you conduct business in that state (other than over the internet?). If it is taxable, you would take the sales price (and possibly the shipping charges, depending on the state) and multiply it by th tax rate (3000 * 7.75%=232.50) Your total with tax would be 3232.50.
