How can u find out if u can file taxes this year if u don't kno if u r exempt or not? |
On my online paystub it doesn't say whether or not if I am or im not but im trying to file taxes this year. Why would you be exempt? Unless you didn't earny ANY income in the US, or served in a combat zone, you have to file your taxes. Your employer should be getting your W-2's to you very shortly. What do you mean exempt? If your worked and paid money in for taxes then you should file, even if you didn't make that much. You might be able to get a refund. Always file for your refund. If you make under a certain amount you aren't required to file. The reason you wouldn't have to file is if you don't owe taxes. HOWEVER, you already paid taxes because they were taken out of your check. When you file they will refund what they took from your taxes. So you don't have to file but it's free so do it anyway to get your money back. I suggest going to the IRS.GOV Free File site tomorrow and doing a free e-file. It's free, easy, and you can get a refund in 2 weeks. They walk you through it step by step and anyone can understand it!
