If a couple is married do they have to file income tax together?

I am leagally married but we do not live together and haven't for over 2 years, do I have to file my income tax with him?

no u can file married filing seperate. have done it that way for the last 6 years.
You can file what is called Married Filing Seperatly. But in about 9 cases out of 10, it is more beneficial to both parties to file jointly. If you get your taxes done professionally, your CPA should be able to prepare you a MFJ vs. MFS chart which shows the outcomes of both filing statuses.

You can do a "Married Filing Separately"

It is almost always more beneficial to file jointly...
