Income tax was only in the law books till the end of WW2 As a means for the government to fund the war. He was found Not Guilty of Willfull Failure to File which means the jury believed him when said he didn't know he had to file. The Sixthteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is the law that gives Congress the power to pass other laws that require you to pay an income tax. The Sixthteenth Amendment says "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration". |
