Is my FEIN # and Fed Tax ID number the same numbers?

I was told it was the same number by a person who was not qualified, were they right?

Yes.
Your FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number), EIN or Federal Tax Id are one and the same.

When I ask employers for their FEIN, they ask 'the EIN?'
I tell them that they're the same or just 'yes'.

Your personal tax id is your social security number.

It can confuse some people as both numbers are 9-digits long. Source(s): my job
FEIN # is an unfamiliar term...do you mean SS #? If so, they are a match.
Federal Tax ID number is the same as EIN, also known as Employer Identification Number. You need it to run a business.

You bet.

Your FEIN is your Federal Employer Identification Number. For business purposes, it's your Tax ID. For your personal tax return, your SSN is your Tax ID.
