Do the Republican Candidates have any plan for America other than cutting taxes? |
It seems to be all they have to say on Economics. Ever since Reagan, Republicans have been completely unable to talk straight about economics and the budget. Reagan pushed the idea that we could balance the budget by spending more and taxing less. Understandably, this was a very attractive proposition, like one of those fad diets where you can lose all the weight you want by eating only chocolate and Mexican food. In 1980 it had the great charm of never having been tried. Now it's been tried and it was an abysmal failure (no surprise there). But the Republicans aren't willing to admit it didn't work. They learned that it's politically impossible to cut spending, and where they have been able to cut spending they turned around and increased it somewhere else. So every 'tax cut' they propose is really only a tax -shift-, mostly shifting the burden of taxation from the rich and corporations onto the backs of working people. As conservative hero Paul Harvey says, there is no self-government without self-discipline. 8^< Good point. But why won't any Democrat candidates answer what will happen to Iraq after they pull us out. Mike Huckabee does. I think he's a very under-exposed candidate, but one that could stand a chance. www.teamhuckabee.com Why if we have the free market and low taxes won't American run itself? Why would you care. Face it, you wouldn't vote for them if they had the greatest plan in the world. I've seen it too many times. Some democrats will only vote for a democrat only because they are a democrat. I'm not a repub but let's face the facts. It happens all too often. Other than tax cuts have your heard them talk about any real issues? They don't because they know they will lose. Someone just might ask how they intend to pay for certain things like the ginormous national debt. |
