Which '08 Presidential Candidates are in favor of "The Fair Tax Plan"? |
I prefer posts with an attached reference to your answer. It's all right here. http://www.fairtax.org/site/pageserver?p... Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.. BarackObama.com HillaryClinton.com JohnEdwards.com I BELIEVE I HEARD OBAMA FAVORING THIS IDEA! Ron Paul is in favor of a No Tax Plan, can you believe that? http://www.ronpaul2008.com/ The latest from Ron Paul: [snip] At a talk show in Nashua, New Hampshire, the host asked me about the fair tax. Well, I agree on getting rid of the IRS, I told her, but I want to replace it with nothing, not another tax.[end snip] How many Americans realize the much smaller USA government was run very efficiently for over 100 years with no IRS, & no personal income taxes? Tariffs were the main source of income for running the government.........And oh yes,,,,the biggest drain on the American tax payers since 1913 has been these constantly fought no-win wars in foreign lands! Please think about this: The bankers get rich in wars the common tax payers get poorer! Thank you. ******************************... The Fair Tax is a non-starter. It's appeal is simplicity . . .and so it stands to reason that is favored by simple-minded people. Wealthy people do not spend their money, they invest it. The Fair Tax cannot include investments or you will see home ownership decline to the point that it is in Great Britain where there is almost no middle class--only rich and poor. You know, I looked at the fair tax plan.. and although it sounds fair and I even thought it was a great idea.. it seemed a little fishy.. It certainly looked good, but why the graduated tax? Also, the 'national sales tax' is in ADDITION to the local sales taxes plus other taxes. I'm not too keen on paying 30% sales tax. I'd rather pay no taxes at all if we do want to get rid of the IRS. Why keep paying taxes to the federal government? This seems like another veiled smoke and mirror attempt by the IRS and the Fed to lure the people into thinking it's their idea.. and also, look at the candidates who support it.. all big money and special interest candidates - they would not support a plan that will kill special interest support. |
