I didn't file an extension on my taxes this year. I am expecting a refund. Will I be penalized?

If you are getting a refund, there won't be any penalty for filing late on your federal taxes. For your state return, laws vary on this.
If you need an extension, you are required to file one even if you are receiving a refund.
Yes I believe you will recieve a penality. Any way the government will get your money they will. :) Kidding, you have to go by the rules. If they did not give you a penality that would not be fair to the other people that did not file an extension and owe the government. Good Luck.
