Will the state refund overpaid personal income taxes?

I think I overpaid on my state taxes. Should I expect a refund of what I overpaid? Will I have to ask for it? Or is there no hope?

You will need to file a state tax return to get any refund back. But make sure that you file for the refund within 3 years of the due date, including extensions. After that point any refund that you are owed will be lost. For example, if you did not file for an extension for your 2003 tax return, and you were owed a refund, you would have had to file a tax return for 2003 by 4/17/2007 to claim the refund.
you shoulda did your taxes back in April, Yes I get refunds every year
Yes if you really overpaid you will get the money refunded.
Illinois refunds my overpayment. You have to send in your tax form.
They will let you know you overpaid your taxes.
You will have to file a state income tax return in order to determine the exact amount of overpayment. The downside is that you might find out that you UNDERpaid and owe the state money, Either way, you should file the return to prevent any penalties etc.
