War or no war, how is it irresponsible to increase tax revenue at 4X the rate of inflation?


I keep seeing this "tax cuts during wartime were irresponsible" but how is that? Tax REVENUE is increasing rapidly. Tax REVENUE is higher than it used to be, higher than was projected with the tax cuts, and higher than was projected without the tax cuts.

And no, you can't argue "they would have been higher" by taking the former rates and applying them to the actual taxable income - - the taxable income was higher than it otherwise would have been, all other things being equal, because of the reinvestment of the initial tax savings.

Bush's SPENDING has been irresponsible, YES - - this question isn't about Bush, it's about the tax cuts.

There is a certain 'green zone' where a population is being taxed the perfect amount to facilitate maximum income for the govt. If you tax too high, the economy will decline, investment will dry up, and anyone with money will horde it away to avoid the tax man. If you tax too little, the govt. simply can't run.

I would say that we've been taxing far too much for far too long, and we're not really 'cutting taxes' as much as we are returning to the optimum position. To people who don't understand economics, the idea that you can cut taxes as a percentage, while actually making more money as a whole, seems counter intuitive. The fact is though, as long as we're moving towards the optimum (which means cuts, as we're still above the optimum), revenues will continue to rise.
It's not.
You said it all.
Democrats just want any excuse to raise taxes, in the hope that they will get a bigger Welfare Check.
