I am an assitant for a family daycare, paid under the table, I want to know how to go about taxes? |
I am starting as a certified assistant. I will be paid under the table. I want to know how do I handle taxes. how much of my money should I put away?? You should probably talk to a financial adviser about this. It might be complicated. Try posting this question in the Business and Finance category. People browsing there may be able to give you better advice on this one. Best of luck. Don't people get paid "under the table" to avoid paying taxes - either the employer or the employee?? Isn't it illegal? I think you are confusing getting paid under the table instead of being an independent contractor. Independent contractors have employers who give them a 1099 form to file with their taxes. If you are getting paid under the table, your boss isn't turning your income over to the IRS. If you filed, they would wonder where you got the money. If you are an independent contractor who is not having taxes taken out put away about 25% per paycheck for taxes. if you are being paid under the table, you are avoiding paying taxes illegally. if you want to file your taxes make sure your employer is aware that you are going to do that, they may not be reporting your salary. I would then contact a H&R Block or the like to see what your next step is. |
