When tipping at a restaurant, is it 15%-20% and is it before or after sales tax? After tax. Remember that you are tipping for the full experience, that means you are tipping everybody from the Greeter, the Bus Boy, the waiter/waitress, the Chef, etc... So if the food was great but the server was not, undertipping does not reflect the true service of the restaurant. Also, if a discount is applied (complimentary entree, etc) the tip is still based on the full amount of the ticket, before discounts. I add the tip after the sales tax. I generally tip 20% before tax, depending on level of service; mediocre service is 15%, exceptional service 25% 15% for Good Service.....20% for GREAT service and if the service sux tip accordingly... dont worry about the percentage tip what you think the service was worth The total bill including the tax....tip 15-20% of the amount depending on service =] No clue But I can tell you that I think that paying such a large tip is really stupid. I mean Dont you pay enough already? |
