What are the best companies to use for a VA loan?

99% of the bank, credit unions and mortgage companies don't know crap about doing VA loans. It takes them forever to go look up all the regs and their people are not trained in doing VA loans. We have done three VA loans with a VA specific lender and he is outstanding. Not only does he know everything about VA loans, he also has outstanding customer service. You can call and talk to him almost everytime you call to talk to him but if you leave him a message he will call you back within minutes. This is unheard of in the lending industry. The company that he works for does VA loans all over the country so it doesn't matter where you live, he can still take care of your loan. They also have awesome rates. Don't sell yourself short by working with an idiot that tries to do VA mortgage, work with someone who really knows what they are talking about.

It doesn't matter. If they write VA loans then they are going by VA standards and operating procedures. Get your credit report done once. Take it around to lenders to get quotes. Do not hand out your SSN like its candy. Each hit on your credit report is 10 points. This could make the difference between a good rate and not even getting the loan. Just because they have a big name in the industry does not mean you will save money on closing costs. I know of a major nation wide lender that kills you in closing costs. The little mom and pop may not be so greedy. The VA may not even be the best deal for you. Many homeowners don't want to deal with this because of the money it costs them. So your choices may be limited. Your lender and your Realtor are your most important choice. They can save you thousands.
It really doesn't matter. Your load will get sold several times over the life of the loan.
